Ten Books We Loved Less Than Other People-Top Ten Tuesday #65

This week’s theme is ten books we loved more or less than other people. So Brianna and I decided to do books we loved less and most of these are on here thanks to the hype machine. Sometimes hype works for books but other times it doesn’t, and when it doesn’t it makes us all sad. 

It’s okay, it happens to us all *hugs*

Now on to the real list of books we didn’t love but others seemed to love.

1. Truthwitch

I liked this one, but the more I think about it, the less I liked it, if that makes sense :/. I think the world was interesting, yet it didn’t hold my interest or really wow me. Although, it was a pretty cool fantasy story, just not for me. I’m the odd one out here though, I think a lot of people really enjoyed this book and for good reason 🙂 It was just not for me.

2. Ready Player One

This book was SUPER disappointing to me. There’s a lot of hype and excitement surrounding this book because it’s going to be a movie, and I think the movie will be pretty cool. I love video games! This book had way too much info dumping, and not enough focus on plot… it was also predictable 😦

3. The Winners Curse

Ohhhhhh man, this book is really popular *hides* I just found book one to be hard to get into and really boring. But I hear the series picks up with book 2 so I’m considering reading it to see if it gets more interesting :). I just didn’t like the world/story in this one.

4. The Darkest Minds

This one fell along the same lines of The Winner’s Curse. I heard nothing but good things about this one so I was pumped to read it… and I didn’t like it. I finished the book and wanted to DNF it so many times, I didn’t like any of the characters, the writing, or the story and it felt too much like other books I’ve read (sorry guys 😦 )

5. The Alchemists of Loom

I REALLY love Air Awakens, yet somehow I didn’t love The Alchemists of Loom? I didn’t like the characters, but it was VERY original, and had some SUPER SUPER SUPER cool concepts that I adored. I just didn’t fall in love with the plot… sadly, it was slow and predictable.

6. The Forgetting

The Forgetting was just really hard for me to get in to. Nothing seemed to be explained in the end, the story showed more than told and I didn’t like the plot twist.

7. Passenger

I read an eARC of this one and was nooooooot a fan. I nearly DNFed it multiple times. I didn’t feel the chemistry between the characters, I didn’t like the plot (it was slow) and I wasn’t a fan of the story (sadly D:)

8. Unhooked

This one felt too fast??? Like, the story just zoomed by without world building and I didn’t enjoy the characters at all. I was excited about an evil Peter Pan but goodness, I didn’t like the twist on this one for whatever reason D:

9. The Shadow Queen

I just couldn’t get into this one… I can’t remember why because it’s been a while… but I like the cover 🙂

10. Caraval

I think this one was just victim to hype. The world was really cool, but I thought this story would focus more on sisterly love, and it didn’t. I was expecting more magic and more twists, but it wasn’t that magical and I predicted nearly all the twists. BUT I HAVE A FEELING BOOK TWO WILL BE AMAZING (not going to lie)

Well, it’s important to note that we are the odd ones out for these books 🙂 There’s nothing wrong with them, so please enjoy them XD!
