Instagram Questions for Bookish People

Brianna and I recently restarted our Instagram account (if you want to follow us, it’s @fables_library) and I have a few questions for all of you.

Do you follow themed accounts?

I noticed quite a few people on Instagram have a theme(ish) thing going on. They take pictures with plain backgrounds, or books with coffee and socks. I think they look so nice and uniform, they’re pretty to look at. Do you follow these people who have themes, or do you like to follow unthemed accounts more? Unthemed ones are nice too because there’s something different in each picture. My sister and I fit under the unthemed category, but I would kind of (sort of) like to start moving towards a theme. Which I guess brings me to my second question…

How do you find a theme?

How do you find a theme? I want a theme or some sort of commonality when it comes to our pictures, but I don’t want to accidentally copy anyone. I love how the themes look so much 🙂

Do you do Instagram challenges?

Third, somewhat unrelated question xD Do you do Instagram monthly challenges? Currently Brianna and I are doing the #RedQhiteAndBookedJuly hosted by PageWithAView and ThePaige_Turner. It’s kind of fun and motivates us to post 🙂

Do you have a favorite Instagram account?

Pretty much a self explanatory question! Do you have a favorite Instagram account under ANY category? It doesn’t even have to be bookish related, it could be coffee, fashion, video games, pop funkos (yasss!) Anything. We’d love to know which accounts you love ^^

I know this is a pretty short post but these were some burning questions I had. Things which kept me up in the middle of the night (not really xD) Just curious as to what you all do!

  1. I follow both themed & unthemed accounts. Yes, the themed ones look great, but I think I enjoy the unthemed ones a little better, just because, like you said, there’s something different in each picture. I, myself, have a theme but it isn’t too special, lol.

If you are looking to have a theme for yourself, I would say to find maybe an app or website that you think will fit your styling needs then go from there. I don’t necessarily focus on using the same filters & such, but that’s what I see a lot in some people’s feeds. It’s just something to think about — what do you want & what’s the best way that you can express your creativity? 🙂

I don’t do IG challenges, but I may slowly get into one. As for my favorite IG accounts, I don’t really have any (besides yours) 😉

  2. I follow themed and unthemed accounts. Some of my favorites are @celinereads @myriadinklings @twirlingpages @booksthetics and @ourbookworlds. 🙂

Personally, I don’t have a specific theme. I take pictures against any background and my feed has a lot of variety. But I do lightly edit each picture with the same filter, so I can have a nice looking feed but not be limited in my photography. 😉

I’ve been doing monthly challenges for a couple of months now, and each time I’ve done ones created by @celinereads. I have a lot of fun with it, and they give me motivation so I can post daily. 🙂

    1. Ohhh, I will have to check out those accounts :)! I love Twirling Pages picture though, the colors are so beautiful ^_^. Oh, that is a good point about unthemed accounts! It does give you more freedom of what/where you take your pictures. That sounds like so much fun 🙂 the challenges are great at getting people to post daily, or at least give ideas for pictures to take :). Glad you’re enjoying bookstagram! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  3. It sounds like you might enjoy the artistic 🙂 side of the photo. Forgive me for I do not use social media as it’s called but I think I understand your appreciation for art.it is amazing how creative people can be. That said your”theme” could be no theme at all but a revolving cornucopia of themes. Let’s say sweaters one day and flowers the next. Each time attempting to capture some mood our sentiment. This will allow unfettered creativity based on the day our is created.

    1. That’s a good point 😀 I think our theme is just overlay/sparkles but at the same time, we don’t use the same filters/overlays for each picture, so yeah, that’s a great point. I love editing photos 🙂 thanks for stopping by!
