What Book Blogging Has Done For Us

Hi everyone 🙂 I was trying to think of some discussion posts to do and, as all good ideas come, I got one while I was in the shower xD The bathroom is a magical place.

Anyways, my sister and I have been blogging for over 2 years now (YAYYY!!!) And we’ve gained a LOT over those two years. Here’s a list of things that blogging has done for us.

1. Made Friends 🙂

When we started out blogging 2 years ago, we knew no one and basically nothing. Now we have TONS of great blogging friends (mostly thanks to Twitter). Wren from The Litaku is an amazing person we LOVE talking to. Wren’s really nice so go follow The Litaku and say hi!

Nori from ReadWriteLove28 is another super amazing person who’s incredibly helpful! I recommend talking to her too because she’s another great blogger 🙂

Of course there are TONS of more friendly people out there 🙂 The blogging community (and people in general) are kind.

2. Writing

Blogging has, I think, really helped our writing skills. If you look back at our first few posts, they’re incredibly different from our posts now. Hopefully our grammar and sentence structure have improved (which I believe it has!))

Not only has it helped writing when it comes to our blog, but it’s helped our creative writing. The more you write the better you become 🙂 and reading is good practice for writing. Right?

3. Memory???

Or more like note taking…When I read (and sometimes when Brianna reads) we take notes. It helps us remember more of what goes on, and helps us process our thoughts. So I guess you could say it’s practice for school?

That and I find note taking fun…especially if I have more than one colored, really amazing pen.

4. Good Way To Pass Time

When you have nothing to do all day and are bored out of your mind, that’s NEVER any fun. But blogging has helped pass that time for my sister and I. When we work on our blog, we tend to spend the majority of our day planning out what we’re posting and working on them as well.

That and reading takes a lot of time too, especially if you’re reading a 500 page book. Unless you’re a super quick reader, and if you are, I’m so jelly.

(P.S. I LOVE Nick Jonas, his songs are so good…)

5. Found Loads o’ Good Books

This is a more obvious one. Book blogging introduced Goodreads to us. If you don’t know what it is, Goodreads lets you keep track of what you’re reading, set reading goals and gives you book recommendations. There’s also giveaways and more, it’s a super good website I really recommend it.

That and if you ask anyone, especially on Twitter, you can get tons of good book recommendations in seconds 🙂 People are super friendly!

6. Planning

If you join a blog tour or request an arc that needs to be up on your blog by a certain date then you need a schedule. It’s probably not a good idea to leave it for the last second because then the book might not be so enjoyable.

Brianna and I tend to not join a lot of blog tours (but I really hope we start doing more :D) Blogging has just helped us with our planning, which is definitely a useful skill.

7. Authors

Before book blogging I had NO idea authors went to events to talk and sign books. The idea just never came to me, UNTIL WE STARTED 😀 Now Brianna and I have met a few lovely authors such as James Dashner, Ava Jae, Susan Dennard and Victoria Schwab. If you don’t know, authors are SUPER nice people and really helpful when it comes to advice! We had so much fun going to their events and hearing about their inspirations for their stories.

anyways

Anyways these are some of the many things blogging has done for us. If you’re not sure if you want to start a blog, keep these in mind 🙂 I think it’s worth trying out, you’ll never know if you like it if you never try it!

  1. I’ve only been blogging for a few months now, but I already see the effects of it! You’re totally right, my planning and writing skills have improved immensely, and I also understand social media a lot better now in terms of what is more popular and how to use it effectively. Thanks for leading me to your blog 🙂
