Bookish News- Martian MADNESS, A Papery Tour and more fun! (June 1st-June 12th)

Well here’s a new idea for our blog. Since we are always hearing about bookish news, why not start to share it with you? Sounds good to us so lets give this a try!
*This most likely wont be a weekly post, but we will try depending on all the news!*

A Martian has been spotted!

Andy Weir’s The Martian now has a movie trailer, and it is INCREDIBLE!

Angelina and I think it looks pretty GREAT! We love the music and how intense they make it all look. Do you get chills? Because I do every time they make the screen to dark! Chills! Have you read The Martian yet? Angelina though the book was really good, I have yet to read it but I will take her word. The book does sound really good, and hopefully the movie will be just as wonderful.

Book summary:

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he’s sure he’ll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him & forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded & completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive—& even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won’t have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment or plain-old “human error” are much more likely to kill him first. But Mark isn’t ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills—& a relentless, dogged refusal to quit—he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?-goodreads

A Paper Tour?

There is a Paper Town’s movie tour going on for my favorite John Green book! Sadly for those international Paper Towns lovers, it is only a United States contest. Luckily, if you do in fact live in the United States you can vote via Tumblr by liking and re-blogging your state’s picture it.I REALLY want Michigan to win, but so far no such luck. As of June 9th, the top states are Texas, Ohio, Minnesota, Tennessee, Indiana and Florida, Michigan is in like 12th place… If you live in the US, is your state winning? Will you be seeing it? I know they changed to movie, but I still want to see it SO BADLY! You can vote below.

The Girl on Fire is Back!

(someone needs to seriously put her out! I MEAN SHE IS ON FIRE!)

I have yet to read The Hunger Games but I have seen the first movie! There’s a new trailer out for the Hunger Games Mocking Jay Part Two as well and it’s looking good!

Are you a Hunger Games fan? Like I said, I haven’t really been watching or reading the Hunger Games but I do know how popular it is. I am expecting good things out of this movie :D! Jennifer Lawrence is an amazing actress, and even though I have seen only one of the movies, she rocks Katniss.

Book Summary:

My name is Katniss Everdeen.
Why am I not dead?
I should be dead.

Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. Gale has escaped. Katniss’s family is safe. Peeta has been captured by the Capitol. District 13 really does exist. There are rebels. There are new leaders. A revolution is unfolding.
It is by design that Katniss was rescued from the arena in the cruel and haunting Quarter Quell, and it is by design that she has long been part of the revolution without knowing it. District 13 has come out of the shadows and is plotting to overthrow the Capitol. Everyone, it seems, has had a hand in the carefully laid plans–except Katniss.
The success of the rebellion hinges on Katniss’s willingness to be a pawn, to accept responsibility for countless lives, and to change the course of the future of Panem. To do this, she must put aside her feelings of anger and distrust. She must become the rebels’ Mockingjay–no matter what the personal cost

A Red Queen movie?

So I remember hearing that the Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard was optioned to be a movie, you know like An Ember in the Ashes? From what I recently heard, Elizabeth Banks is in talks of Directing the movie! ISN’T THAT AWESOME!? I feel like having a director chosen (rumor or not) makes the whole book becoming movie/tv show more real :). Elizabeth Banks has directed Pitch Perfect 2 and is Effie from The Hunger Games movies… Are you excited to see Red Queen on the big screen? Who is your dream cast :)?
