an ember in the ashes

Set in a terrifyingly brutal Rome-like world, An Ember in the Ashes is an epic fantasy debut about an orphan fighting for her family and a soldier fighting for his freedom. It’s a story that’s literally burning to be told.

LAIA is a Scholar living under the iron-fisted rule of the Martial Empire. When her brother is arrested for treason, Laia goes undercover as a slave at the empire’s greatest military academy in exchange for assistance from rebel Scholars who claim that they will help to save her brother from execution.

ELIAS is the academy’s finest soldier—and secretly, its most unwilling. Elias is considering deserting the military, but before he can, he’s ordered to participate in a ruthless contest to choose the next Martial emperor.

When Laia and Elias’s paths cross at the academy, they find that their destinies are more intertwined than either could have imagined and that their choices will change the future of the empire itself. -goodreads.com

and

sisters of blood and spirit

Wren Noble is dead—she was born that way. Vibrant, unlike other dead things, she craves those rare moments when her twin sister allows her to step inside her body and experience the world of the living.

Lark Noble is alive but often feels she belongs in the muted Shadow Lands—the realm of the dead. Known as the crazy girl who talks to her dead sister, she doesn’t exactly fit in with the living, though a recent suicide attempt and time in a psych ward have proved to her she’s not ready to join her sister in the afterlife.

Now the guy who saved Lark’s life needs her to repay the favor. He and his friends have been marked for death by the malevolent spirit of a vicious and long-dead serial killer, and the twins—who should know better than to mess with the dead—may be their only hope of staying alive. -goodreads.com

  1. I can’t believe it! You have An Ember in the Ashes. I’m jealous XD. This is just a quick side note, but I noticed that your Bloglovin’ links to an old blogspot blog. Can you fix it?

  2. hmm, I’m not sure if my 1st comment was published so I’m just going to write another one lol. I’m re-reading Captive Prince, which is my favorite M/M series!! Also City of Savages and am about to start The Tragic Age. 😛

  3. Ohh you’re so lucky! I’m reading the Well’s End by Seth Fishman and I’m surprisingly liking it so far. It’s a easy book to get into, but be warned there is a sort of an insta-love. The love is pretty pointless and no sparks whatsoever so I would suggest just focusing on the story if you ever want to pick it up. 😀

    1. Hope you are enjoying them! Oh my gosh, isn’t The Dickens Mirror the second book after White Space? I started White Space but got half way because it freaked me out! I read about the second one and I was like O_O woah. My sister also read White Space’s ending and I’m a bit glad I didn’t finish it since I don’t handle gore super well.
      Thank you for sharing 😀

  4. I just finished reading Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan and next I’m going to start either the 2nd book Untold or Soulless by Gail Carriger.
