The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson and The Olympians #5) Review

4/5

Sorry for posting this one so late in the day, I didn’t have time to write it yesterday!

Finishing up with the Percy Jackson back to back reviews, here is The Last Olympian!

This is the FIFTH book, my reviews for the first four can be found here:

The titles are click-able πŸ™‚ just click the title and it will take you to the reviews!

WARNING! There may be spoilers if you haven’t read the first four books. As always, I try to keep my reviews as spoiler free as possible, but be warned :).

All year the half-bloods have been preparing for battle against the Titans, knowing the odds of victory are grim. Kronos’s army is stronger than ever, and with every god and half-blood he recruits, the evil Titan’s power only grows. While the Olympians struggle to contain the rampaging monster Typhon, Kronos begins his advance on New York City, where Mount Olympus stands virtually unguarded. Now it’s up to Percy Jackson and an army of young demigods to stop the Lord of Time.-goodreads.com

Wow, I finished all of these so quickly! The Percy Jackson series is so good, I’m sad I didn’t read them sooner. These books are now over but Rick Riordan did write some other series I will read soon!

This book was good, just not as good as the others. The first four Percy Jackson books were full of good jokes/witty comebacks, new characters with exciting powers, and a lot of feels (emotions). The Last Olympian had less laughs and more tears, most of the book felt like battle which was fine by me but I sort of missed the lighthearted moments (I’m sure the Half Bloods did too…)

β€œThe world was collapsing, and the only thing that really mattered to me was that she was alive.”

What I really liked was knowing how the prophecy played out, I loved how he explained it all. The prophecy sounds one way but twists into a completely different meaning (why can’t The Oracle just tell it straight?!), the ending had me both in tears and awe. Honestly, I am super sad it’s over :(, why did it have to end?! I can just see the potential for the next series, and cannot wait for the new prophecy, and new characters! Of course, the old ones were just as good and I was happy to see more added to their character and abilities. So much has happened in all the books, the ending is very fitting.

β€œWhy do you need to gallop while you fly?”
“Why do humans have to sway their arms while they walk? I dunno boss, but it just feels right.”

This review is really short so I’m sorry! Honestly, I’m not sure what else to say other than I LOVED this WHOLE series, it was so good! The characters were cute, adorable, funny, amazing, they were all different and it was funny how they matched their Parent so well :)! The series ends with twists and turns and something I never saw coming, well two things.Β  I’m starting the next one most likely tomorrow, so wish me luck!

Have you read these books yet?

  1. I’m so, so happy you liked this series! I finished this book like years and years ago and I didn’t mind the battles. It was exciting and there were still sufficient character development that kept me satisfied. And that TWIST.
YES KEEP READING. FLAIL WITH FEELS AS YOU READ ON ABOUT PERCABETH AND PERCY AND THE OTHER AWESOME HALF-BLOODS.
