Do you ever just want to read a realistic fiction book and enjoy it even though you absolutely love fantasy? Do you ever want to open a promising looking book about high school students and be entertained and filled with hope instead of doom and despair? How about, do you want to read a romantic story that’s clean, nice and really truly wonderful? Please, my friends, look no further for this post will help you down that path to a new bright future. How I Fall will give you that hope in life once again. How I Fall was different from the typical realistic fiction genre, instead of clicky girls gossiping about each other, high school parties and a trouble-maker teen, this book brought something different to the table. And I’m not talking about chicken people! Nope, I’m talking about some good ‘ol roast beef. This beef brings in a nice, hopeful main character who has immense hopes when it comes to photography and low hopes when it comes to friends. Ellen Foster is this nice roast beef (is it weird comparing her to food?) and the reason why she has low hopes for friends is because she has something known as CP. I’ve never heard of CP before reading this book so I learned something as well. CP is Cerebral Palsy, according to Webmd.com, it is a “broad term used to describe chronic disorders that impair control of movement…” Okay as much as I like Ellen all the other characters were just as good and wonderful.
I KNOW!!! More than one awesome sauce character!!!!!!
My next favorite character was Laura from Ireland, commonly called by Cam (another main character) Ireland. She’s so cute! It might sound weird but she’s just so charming and all the other characters think so too. She’s hopeful, filled with happiness as colorful as the rainbow and believes in a simple thing known as fate. Laura loves sparkles too which makes me like her even better! Cam is the main guy character, and one of the points of views the story is told from other than Ellens. He’s a nice guy who’s in football but his mind is elsewhere. He’s not a jerk, doesn’t gossip or beat people up, he’s kind and caring. Seriously I don’t think I’ve ever read a realistic fiction book with greater characters. If you want to read a book with great characters without knowing about the plot, then just pick this book up right now!!!! Okay. Done with the characters, on to the plot. I’ve never been one for realistic fiction books, if you couldn’t tell…Yet this book was so refreshing it was like jumping into a nice cold pool in the middle of a hot summer. Refreshing. New. Hopeful, three words I’d use to describe it and all it’s wonder. Ellen is assigned with Cam, Laura and sort of Partick (her friend another somewhat big main character) for a photo contest were she can win a scholarship. It’s been her dream, photography makes her happy, seeing things take new from through a lens opens her eyes. But love is in the air, yes love, and will a certain someone fall in love with that other certain someone? Was it Fate that actually brought them together? Will happiness come their way or a shattering thing known as sorrow? To find out the answers of these questions, please, just read How I Fall by Anne Eliot. My final thoughts:
Definitely one of the best young adult romances I’ve read. Now here it is, the giveaway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
