September 2014 BOOK EXCITEMENT

So we decided to do this new thing for each month (maybe we will see :D), we will talk about the upcoming YA books. And our excitement. And our dorky pleasure. So here goes nothing!!! Please hang on as I express my excitement through gifs!

First Up:

1. Trial by Fire by Josephine Angelini
trial by fire

Summary: This world is trying to kill Lily Proctor. Her life-threatening allergies keep her from enjoying experiences that others in her hometown of Salem take for granted, which is why she is determined to enjoy her first high school party with her best friend and longtime crush, Tristan. But after a humiliating incident in front of half her graduating class, Lily wishes she could just disappear. Suddenly, Lily is in a different Salem—one overrun with horrifying creatures and ruled by powerful women called Crucibles. Strongest and cruelest of them all is Lillian . . . Lily’s other self in this alternate universe.

Here is an awesome looking book by Melissa Marr the author of The Wicked Lovely Series (one I personally loved!)

2. Made for You by Melissa Marr!

made for you

Summary: Eva Tilling wakes up in the hospital to discover an attempt has been made on her life. But who in her sleepy little North Carolina town could have hit her with their car? And why? Before she can consider the question, she finds that she’s awoken with a strange new skill: the ability to foresee people’s deaths when they touch her. While she is recovering from the hit-and-run, Nate, an old flame, reappears, and the two must traverse their rocky past as they figure out how to use Eva’s power to keep her friends—and themselves—alive.

Brianna is MOST excited for this one:

3. Jackaby by William Ritter.

Summary: “Miss Rook, I am not an occultist,” Jackaby said. “I have a gift that allows me to see truth where others see the illusion–and there are many illusions. All the world’s a stage, as they say, and I seem to have the only seat in the house with a view behind the curtain.”

Newly arrived in New Fiddleham, New England, 1892, and in need of a job, Abigail Rook meets R. F. Jackaby, an investigator of the unexplained with a keen eye for the extraordinary–including the ability to see supernatural beings. Abigail has a gift for noticing ordinary but important details, which makes her perfect for the position of Jackaby’s assistant. On her first day, Abigail finds herself in the midst of a thrilling case: A serial killer is on the loose. The police are convinced it’s an ordinary villain, but Jackaby is certain it’s a nonhuman creature, whose existence the police–with the exception of a handsome young detective named Charlie Cane–deny.

So yeah, excited, goodreads says that this is a Doctor Who meets Sherlock kind of book so BAM! Best of both worlds right? :D?

Release: September 16th, 2014.

Next is the second book to The 5th Wave Series (an amazing book by the way! Plus the 1st book is going to be a movie!!!) Here it is

4. The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey!

the infinite sea

Summary: How do you rid the Earth of seven billion humans? Rid the humans of their humanity.

Surviving the first four waves was nearly impossible. Now Cassie Sullivan finds herself in a new world, a world in which the fundamental trust that binds us together is gone. As the 5th Wave rolls across the landscape, Cassie, Ben, and Ringer are forced to confront the Others’ ultimate goal: the extermination of the human race.

Cassie and her friends haven’t seen the depths to which the Others will sink, nor have the Others seen the heights to which humanity will rise, in the ultimate battle between life and death, hope and despair, love and hate.

I’m really excited for this book, the first one was action packed, intense and an amazing story about *somewhat spoilers?* aliens!!!! *end spoilers* If you liked the first book I’m sure you’d like the second one too.

This cover reminds me so much of Skyrim for some reason haha.

Summary: Politics and magic make dangerous bedfellows.

Now, three venerable European families and a maverick American each plot to seize control of the Order and shape it to their will. A cutthroat game of political intrigue will decide the winner; and the stakes couldn’t be higher, for ruling the Order carries with it the power to grant—or deny—an afterlife.
