Murdered: Soul Suspect is a dark detective thriller with a supernatural twist: the mystery you are solving is your own murder from the afterlife. Play as Ronan O’Connor, a Salem police detective with a checkered past, whose life is brought to an untimely end by a brutal killer. Trapped in a limbo world called Dusk, he is unable to find peace until he can bring his killer to justice.

Using his new-found supernatural abilities, Ronan is free to explore the town of Salem, Massachusetts, from his shadowy afterlife. Unable to communicate with the detectives on his case, Ronan must read the minds of the living, influencing their thoughts and actions. As part of his investigation, he must interrogate the ghosts of Salem’s past citizens to piece together the puzzle, while battling demonic spirits to save his soul and uncover the shocking truth about who is responsible for his death. -ign.com

Ever since it’s announcement, my sister and I have been beyond excited to play Murdered: Soul Suspect. Detective, mystery games are fun, but add in the fact that the main character has been murdered and you have to find out by who, then you have a great and interesting story, right? Eh, sorta.

First off, I have to say I always love Square Enix. Second I have to say this game looks great but doesn’t live up to that expectation.

The good: The game had a great start, but after the first… maybe third the game got boring. Ronan was a cool character, they all were… this is hard… there was so much more bad than good…the ending was a twist but still not to good of an ending. The graphics were good, sometimes, and I did enjoy some of the tie ins with *SPOILER MAJOR SPOILER* Salem Witch Trails :D! *SPOILERS END NOW!*

The bad:

The characters and story was very underdeveloped. We were dropped into Ronan’s life and met many people, people we didn’t get to know, people who stayed for a few seconds and became important in the end. The mysteries were easy to solve, maybe that is because my sister and I play and read a lot of mysteries, but still the clues were always right in front of you, so easy, so simple. Ronan lacks any cool or amazing powers, if you were a ghost wouldn’t you want some super cool powers? Yeah? Well Ronan doesn’t have any. He can mind read, persuade, posses, ease drop, boring detective stuff, and you couldn’t do them whenever you wanted it had to apply to the main story. The ending was, again, a twist, but still boring and dry. The characters involved weren’t in the story really until then so it left you… I guess feeling kind of bummed. Also the game was VERY short, I think we beat it in about 5 hours maybe? And that included all but one side mission and we found all collectables. Another thing is, there was only one monster the Demons and they were defeated the same time every way. Don’t get me wrong, I was scared out of my mind, but they EVERYWHERE! Always the same :/

Would we replay it?: No. We would definitely not, sorry. It was fun for a little while but after that it got old, and dry, boring really. Sorry, I wished I enjoyed it more than I did.
